Sun jar solar lamp
December 8, 2008
Do not let the strange name and the strange concept of this particularly useful device distract your attention from what the Sun jar solar lamp has to offer. In essence these are jam jars which are able to absorb solar power and automatically switch themselves on and emit light when darkness falls. So how do these Sun jar solar lamp actually work?
These are perhaps the most eco-friendly lamps available on the market at the moment and have an aura and mystery around them which will attract children and grown-ups alike. You simply place the Sun jar solar lamp on a shelf in full view of daylight and it will build up an energy supply using solar technology which will then be converted into a soft candle like glow when darkness falls.
The beauty of the Sun jar solar lamp is the fact that they can be used indoors or outdoors, as lighting for a party, as a bedside lamp or a decoration for a bedroom or main room in the house. Of all the so-called eco-friendly products which we have covered on the site in the past this is perhaps the “greenest” eco-friendly lamp which we have come across and offers something very different to the norm.
Gin and Titonic ice cube tray
December 7, 2008
This Gin and Titonic ice cube tray is somewhat bizarre and possibly not to the taste of everyone. However, if you feel your gin and tonic with an ice cube looks fairly bland and uninteresting you need to take a look at the Gin and Titonic ice cube tray which offers some interesting alternatives for the modern-day ice cube!
While it does not take a genius to recognise the connection with the Titanic, this novelty ice tray can produce 4 icebergs and 4 ocean liner shaped ice cubes for that novelty finish to a simple gin and tonic. The icebergs and the ocean liner ice cubes are very realistic and liven up a drink of gin and tonic which you may be serving to your friends and family.
The ice cube tray is made from soft, food safe synthetic rubber which also ensures you can pop the ice cubes into your glass with no trouble. Quite why this novelty ice cube tray appeals to us we are not sure but it is certainly something a little different and something which will catch the eye of your guests during the festive period.
So now you can watch the Titanic go down every time you serve a drink of gin and tonic with this bizarre but rather appealing Gin and Titonic ice cube tray!
Moon Cosy
December 6, 2008
While the Moon Cosy looks like one of those strange gowns which some people wear it is actually one of those gadgets which we need and would use but perhaps don’t want to admit it!
In simple terms it is an oversized soft fleece blanket, the kind you would use when lying on your sofa or couch, but rather than trying to stop the blanket slipping off you as you sleep this little beauty has loose fitting sleeves allowing you to hold the blanket in place. As well as keeping you warm, it will also allow you to use your hands to grapple for that TV remote control without actually getting up.
How many times have you been lying comfortably on a chair only to realise you have left the TV remote control on the floor, the paper on the chair or you need to get up to grab the phone? With the Moon Cosy all you need to do is sit up with your hands through the loose fitting sleeves, do what you need to do, then sit back down again without having to correct the blanket.
While perfect as a gift for a child or another member of your family, the Moon Cosy could well be a godsend for an older person who maybe feels the cold at night. As the cost of living continues to rise and heating bills hit record levels save yourself some money with this strange looking yet surprisingly practical Moon Cosy.
R2D2 projection clock
December 5, 2008
Check out this little beauty, all Star Wars fans both young and old, which is an R2-D2 projection clock which also mimics the beeps and other noises which the original R2-D2 was famous for in the Star Wars movies. Even though this is the latest in a long line of Star Wars merchandise to hit the online gadget market, some will argue it is one of the best to date. You can have your own R2-D2 telling you the time as the clock is projected onto the new surface when the alarm sounds.
The clock itself can be switched between 12 hour and 24 hour format and the noises can be adjusted for your preference. There can be few better alarm clocks on the market to compete with this R2-D2 robot which has an LCD screen, can project that time, date or seconds onto a surface and also has a demo button to show you exactly how your alarm will play and look.
As well as an excellent alarm clock this R2-D2 robot will take pride of place beside many children’s beds as the Star Wars story rolls on. What next can we expect from the Star Wars line of merchandise? An Obi-Wan-Kenobi projection clock?

Big Button TV Remote Control
December 3, 2008
While they say size does not matter, it certainly does when you look at the Big Button TV Remote Control which is almost 1 foot in length!
However, the size of the remote control is not the main attraction of the Big Button TV Remote Control as it can actually replace up to 6 different remote controls covering TV sets, DVDs, satellite and cable receivers as well as your hi-fi system. When was the last time you lost your remote control?
With the Big Button TV Remote Control there is no chance of losing it as it is 1 foot long with large buttons for those who may struggle with the smaller devices or those of an older age who may have failing eyesight. There are two ways to program the remote control, either using the various codes which come with the device and correspond to your electronic device, or just let the remote control check all device codes for you and pick the most relevant one.
You can now kiss goodbye to those lost remotes, bin the addition five which you have lying around the house and simply sit back with your Big Button TV Remote Control and control the entertainment around you.
Pedalite Bike Pedals
December 2, 2008
Cycling has become a way of life for many in the UK and across the world but the dangers on the roads of today are there to see and clearly a concern for all cyclists. The need to be seen at all times of the day by oncoming traffic is paramount as more and more cyclists become involved in ever more serious road accident. Check out the Pedalite Bike Pedals for the ultimate answer to road safety for cyclists of today!
While these may just look like your traditional light reflecting pedals they really do offer so much more. Using kinetic energy, which is created as soon as you start to pedal, the device will start to illuminate and flash from all angles but the clever part is the fact it is able to store kinetic energy and keep the lights illuminated when you are freewheeling or stop pedalling at a junction.
It is common knowledge that 75% of cycling accidents happen at junctions where oncoming traffic may not be able to see the more traditional light reflecting pedals. However the Pedalite Bike Pedals reflect and flash from all sides ensuring that you can be seen night and day from a distance of up to 1 Km. The fact that the lights shine from all angles may sound fairly irrelevant, but this is the saving grace of this gadget which has and will continue to save lives.
Heat Thinsulate Gloves
December 1, 2008
As the winter nights continue to draw in, the temperature starts to fall who on earth would venture outside unless they needed to!
However sometimes needs must and these Heat Thinsulate Gloves will ensure that your fingers are warm, you are able to use them and Jack Frost does not get his wicked way!
These are no ordinary set of gloves as they are electronically heated by a battery which is built into the cuff of each glove, out of sight and out of mind. Due to the underlying structure of the gloves they are able to operate in temperatures as low as -20°C. The thin wire mesh under the surface of the glove is heated by power from the battery and insurers your fingers and hands are warm in a matter of seconds.
For those concerned about safety, the wire meshing is sandwiched between a fleece lined inner layer of the glove and a waterproof protective layer on the outside. There is no danger from the elements and this is the safest and most efficient way of keeping your hands warm if you need to go outside.
The beauty of these Heat Thinsulate Gloves is the fact that nobody will know that your fingers are still at room temperature!
