The latest news on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 is that it will come in two flavours, if rumours are true it will come in both standard and pro varieties designed to broaden the range making the handset accessible to more people.
The news comes from the iPhone download blog who have been told that Apple is ordering different qualities of the same type of component bound for the iPhone 5. Their source believes that Apple will build a standard and a pro version of the iPhone 5, hence the need for higher and lower quality components. The blog continues to speculate that the standard phone will be carrier based whilst the pro will allow users to go truly global utilizing GSM, CDMA and 4G networks.
Any news on release date?
Sadly no additional information could be squeezed from the new sources although the ordering of new components now still fits in with production beginning in July ready for a September roll out.
The problem with today’s information from the iPhone download blog is that no quantities where discussed so we don’t really know whether Apple has ordered thousands of the two sets of components or meagre numbers purely for prototypes and testing.
Do you think Apple needs to diversify their range and offer a cheaper model?
