Apple iPod 5th Generation to Include Glasses-less 3D Screen

With the imminent release of 3DS attention turns to a rumour that the next iPod touch will come with a glasses free 3D display similar to the portable gaming device. It’s about time a rumour surrounding the iPod touch emerged after the slew of speculation surrounding the imminent iPad 2 and iPhone 5.

The leak comes from the Japanese media site Macotakara, they say that an insider has informed them that the fifth generation iPod will indeed come with a Nintendo 3DS-esk screen making it capable of displaying 3D images without the need for glasses. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen but we would highly doubt Apple would role out this type of screen on the otherwise slender iPod.

Although it does sound far fetched it is a plausible myth, just last month a 3D patent came to light that Apple had filed in 2006 that detailed Apple’s glasses-less 3D that can be viewed from all angles – this would offer a huge benefit over the system Nintendo uses.

If only Apple could combine a high definition screen and glasses free 3D, at this stage we would suggest this is a distant dream, what do you think?

yes it would be great if it is possible. But if the patent was done in 2006, they may have been perfecting it this whole time. Makes me question if I should buy the ipod 4 or wait for the 5!

will not come out on 5g or iPad 2g. the patent was granted too late for this could be 6g onwards. and at the moment Nintendo have only set a date when they will announce the 3ds is coming out. the announcement date is December 2011.
