Apple Prepping 3TB Time Capsule as Product Page Goes Down

A missing page on the Apple website points towards an updated Time Capsule, the usual buy now link smily displays the standard page not found template. This suggests that the new Time Capsule is imminent, ready to support Lion and iOS 5 features later on in the year.

At the moment the UK facing Apple website is still displaying the 1TB and 2TB version of the Apple time capsule, the US site displays the image above. The fundamental difference is the internal storage that will be available, the 1TB model has been removed and a 3TB model has been added – that’s a fair amount of back up storage for the everyday user.

Both the main and UK site displays the ‘page not found’ when you hit buy now, presumably Apple will roll out the new page later in the day when they are ready to launch the new time capsule and Airport extreme.

At this stage the price for the 3TB model is unknown, but if you are considering buying a time capsule today we’d suggest you’d hold on – Apple has a tendency of changing prices when a new line is launched, you might grab yourself a bargain.

Are you waiting for the new line of Time Machine’s? How much storage do you realistically need?
