Apple has released the “Gold Master” version of the iOS 5 mobile operating system to developers, one week before its official launch on October 12. If you are a registered iOS developer, you can download the gold master today from developer.apple.com.

The iOS 5 Gold Master is pretty much the version that will be available to the public. It has all the features that we will expect from the new operating system, including the improved notification system, Wi-Fi synchronization, iCloud support and Twitter integration, but the company could still catch and fix some issues before the final release.

The Gold Master is the final version to be seeded to developers before the iOS 5 is made available to the public.

“This new version of iOS 5 contains features of iOS like iMessages, Twitter, Setup and Notification Center, iCloud and alerts,” said a report by tech site The Next Web. “It also contains the Siri assistant feature announced today, but that is compatible only with Apple’s iPhone 4S, a new device being released on October 14th and available for pre-order on October 7th.”

The version’s release comes just after the date predicted by Minh-Chi Kuo, and analyst from Concord Securities. Last month, he told MacRumors and AppleInsider that the company will be launching the final version of the iOS 5 between September 23 and 30.

Apple enthusiast site MacRumors said that the final beta version joins the XCode 4.2 GM, which is also available from the developer site. In order for developers to install the build, they will need iTunes 10.5 Beta 7.
