Earlier this week, Apple Inc. has sent invites to its event next week, March 7th, in San Francisco. To the delight of millions of its users, this event is clearly for the unveiling of its upcoming tablet, the iPad 3.
This week, Apple has sent out invites for a special event that shows an iOS device being touched by the hand. The company did not officially announce that it is for the iPad 3, but it seems that its clear that we’re going to see the iPad 2’s successor. Placed at the bottom of a photo of an iOS device/tablet is a message that read, “We have something you really want to see. And touch.”
This follows news that Best Buy is cutting off $50 in its iPad 2 prices. If the Cupertino-based tech giant unveils a new tablet next week, it is expected to hit the market two weeks after that.
Meanwhile, Taiwan-based tech news website DigiTimes has cited sources from Apple’s supply chain that the company will release a cheaper iPad 2 and two new iPad 3 models.
“In addition to iPad 3, Apple is also expected to unveil an 8 GB iPad 2, allowing the tablet PC series to cover different segments and to defend against Windows 8-based tablet PCs, the sources noted,” DigiTimes wrote.
The report also said that the iPad 3 is expected to have a 9.7-inch HD QXGA display panel with 2048 x 1536 (254 dpi) resolution. In addition to its powerful display, it will have two LED light bars for its backlight.
