After having received an “overwhelmingly encouraging interest from customers,” luxury sports car maker Aston Martin said that it will build “a strictly limited number” of its V12 Zagato coupes, which will come with a price tag that starts at £329,000. Production will start in about a year from now in Gaydon.

The Aston Martin V12 Zagato was unveiled this year at the Villa D’ Este Concours, and its racing version debuted at the 39th ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hour race. The V12 Zagato was designed to honor the classic 1960 DB4 Zagato, a modified version of the DB4, and was based on the V12 Vantage. It sports a handcrafted carbon-fiber and aluminum body and also uses V12 Vantage’s 6-liter, 510 bhp V12 engine.

Speaking about the V12 Zagato, Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ulrich Bez said: “Such style, exclusivity and fastidious craftsmanship ensures it will be one of the most highly coveted models in Aston Martin’s 98-year history. A fabulous celebration of the iconic DB4 GT Zagato, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the V12 Zagato is the perfect inspiration for the next 50 years of Aston Martin.”

Marek Rechman, Aston Martin’s Director of Design, said “The V12 Zagato is an elegant yet brutal design which reflects the great balance between race performance and pure Aston Martin style. The original DB4GT Zagato was a true icon, powerful and graceful; the new design is a true representation of the spirit of DB4GT Zagato. The muscular organic forms define the thoroughbred nature of the car’s racing credentials.”

The company said that the only the first 150 buyers will be able to purchase the exclusive sports car.
