Apple iPhone 5 rumors are continuing to pile up as days go by. Now, reports say that mobile carrier AT&T has been readying its staff for a mid-September iPhone 5 release date. This supports previous reports that UK stores were recruiting staff to start in August.
AT&T has been informing its employees, especially those who work in retail locations, to wrap up its employee training as soon as possible.
“AT&T is asking managers to finish training in order to have employees available for the influx of foot traffic expected in September, a proven source has shared with us,” said Jonathan Geller of Boy Genius Report. “Other reports indicate that Apple is looking to hire additional Apple Store staff to be on hand for ‘new product launches’ during the same period of time, further supporting our information.”
The information is pretty much consistent with other reports that Apple sellers are hiring more staff to be trained in August for a new product launch in September. A report by MacRumors also said that Apple is recruiting ex-employees to return part-time between August 15th and September 15th.
AT&T is not the only mobile carrier preparing for the iPhone 5 release. Verizon is clearing out its iPhone 4 accessory stocks in preparation of a new iPhone launch. A senior executive from Swiss mobile carrier Swisscom also confirmed that the iPhone 5 release date in the United States is on September 5, followed by a worldwide launch a month later.
