Audi A3 e-tron Concept Comes Equipped with Wi-Fi

Audi have been rolling out a number of fantastic looking concept cars of late, the latest is the Audi E-Tron A3 which is based on the saloon Audi is expected to roll out when they refresh their range. The exterior of the car looks mighty impressive although the best tricks are kept for the cockpit of the car.

Audi have installed a whole host of tech including a pretty trick UMTS modem which allows the sat nav to update with live points of interest and access information from Google maps and apps. It also has the ability to act as a wireless hotspot so you can piggy back your other Wi-Fi enabled devices onto it to surf the web, so long as there is a strong enough signal.

The sound system is typically high end too; speakers extend out from their door housing to provide the perfect surround sound. Apart from an 8 inch touch screen the interior is otherwise pretty minimalistic with voluptuous leather clad seats and trim and retro looking air vents that will blast out air at half a degree increments.

Being an e-tron doesn’t mean Audi will remove the filler cap but instead of a cavernous hole you will find a 7 pin socket so you can plug it in to the mains for charging. The 12KW battery is good for 34 miles without charge with a clever regenerative breaking topping it up along the way.

The A3 e-tron looks like it should be fast and thankfully it doesn’t disappoint reaching 62mph from standstill in just 6.8 seconds climbing all the way up to 144MPH. At this stage we have no idea when this concept will become a reality but the general consensus is 2012-2013.
