Today seems to be a frenzy of activity as we have release date information from many of the major tablet manufacturers; the latest comes by way of Phones 4 U who has placed a new landing page on their website for the Blackberry Playbook. The mobile phone retailer has set up the page for prospective customers to register their interest in the device stating ‘when the Blackberry Playbook is available, we’ll let you know’.
The Playbook has officially launched in the US and Canada today although no official UK release date has been announced, Phones 4 U has taken it upon themselves to become the first to offer pre-registration for would be owners, sadly no pre-orders yet though.
The splash page also describes the Blackberry Playbook as ‘the world’s first professional grade tablet’ showing that the company is prepared to throw its weight behind the claims it can compete on the same level as the iPad 2. It’s a smart move for Phones 4 U to jump on the Playbook bandwagon as they will offer the tablet on all four of the major UK phone networks without bias.
The Playbook will come with a 1GHz Dual core chip with 1GB of ram which should make it pretty quick, it will include a 5MP rear camera and 3MP front facing camera and an interface that RIM say is more sophisticated and aimed at the high end business user.
Does the Blackberry Playbook interest you and will you be signing up for information on its UK release date?
