Insight UK, PC World, Dixons, Carphone warehouse, Best Buy and curry’s have all started rolling out pre-orders for the Blackberry Playbook tablet PC. It will cost £399.99 when it launches on June 16th, a release date that many feel is long overdue.
RIM are touting the Blackberry Playbook as the “world’s first professional-grade tablet”. Which they feel sets it aside from other tablets on the market; this is a marketing trick that worked very well with their smartphone range, which pre-iPhone held the lion’s share of the business market. RIM has aimed the Blackberry Playbook at the same target consumer with support for Adobe Flash, increased security features and what they call a ‘robust development environment’. All of which appeal to the business user.
