The latest BlackBerry device to hit the news is the upcoming model called Q20 but widely known as the BlackBerry Classic.
A series of leaked images have given us an idea of what to expect from it, although the official launch looks like it won’t happen until November. The new BlackBerry was announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress but there were no photos made available at the time.
Now that we can see the new device is apparently going to look like. The Q20 looks to be a good deal bigger than the previous BlackBerry release and with a squarer look to it too.
Part of the “classic” tag appears to come from the return of the physical buttons and trackpad for navigating that BlackBerry models in the past had. Among the earlier revelations from the company is the fact that the Q20 will have a traditional QWERTY keyboard on it. We can see this from the leaked photos and it is a sight that will thrill retro fans.
A Square Screen for the Passport
Of course, the technology firm has been busy lately, with the BlackBerry Passport also seeing the light of day soon. This is a rather stranger concept, with a square screen that is designed to let information fit inside it more easily.
So, what will be inside the BlackBerry Q20? At the moment, the details are scarce but the most informed sources suggest that it will have a 1.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. 2 GB of RAM is being talked about as well.
The suggested November release date is still pretty much a guess. BlackBerry has apparently pencilled in releases in the 3rd quarter of the year for the BlackBerry Passport and the BlackBerry Prestige. It remains to be seen whether the Q20 can be squeezed in before the year is out as well.
