Braun Series 7-790cc Electric Shaver Review

My friends and family have got used to me looking like a scruff bag, when I go to tech events people always look at me in a weird way, they’re thinking ‘why has this blogger turned up with a beard/stubble’, the simple answer is I hate shaving and get a wicked rash when I do. So ever since the age of 20 I have been a weirdy beardy, stubble faced blogger. However, this week I was sent the Braun series 7-790cc-3 pulsonic shaver, could this electric shaver be the gadget to turn me into a clean shaven blogger? Users say this shaver is better than a wet shave; I had to put it to the test.

The Braun Series 7 – 790cc electric shaver uses a new pulsonic technology. This makes the razor head vibrate 10,000 times a minute in a bid to raise hairs from the skin for a closer and more comfortable shave. The head is built to maneuver around tricky areas like the neck (my main area of trouble), nose and chin. The shaver also uses a very techie cleaning system which ensures the shaver is like new every time you go to use it.

Using the Braun 790cc shaver

All the blurb and stats are all well and good but what buyers really want to know is does it work? I have had some terrible experiences with electric razors in the past and have to say this is by far the best one I have ever tried.

I was initially unsure on the merits of ‘Pulsonic’ technology but I have to say it does work, the shave was a lot closer than other electrics with a lot less stray hairs around the neck, these were quickly cleaned up with a second pass. So the shave is close and I have to say a lot more fun than a standard wet shave, the shaver includes loads of cool dials and looks great, the bonus part is the techie cleaning station.

Once you have finished shaving you simply pop the 790cc into its cleaning dock, you have the option of a quick clean or deep clean. Once it has been through a deep clean all hairs, muck and germs are removed by an alcoholic solution leaving the shaver as good as new (just be sure to shake it off before use, open pours and alcohol are not a good combination). The cleaning station also charges and stores the shaver in a neat way, it also includes a built in cable so you can use the shaver plugged in but the most important aspect of the dock is that it looks cool on the bathroom counter.

Other useful info

The Braun 790cc shaver comes with a lot of extras in the box, you get the shaver, the base station with cleaning pod and a nifty travel pod that protects the shaver when you go on holiday or away for the evening. If you don’t have a two pin power outlet in your bathroom you will need an adaptor which only cost a couple of pounds.

The shaver is cordless and lasts around 50 minutes on a full charge, you can use it plugged in too.

Summary

The Braun 790-3 cc electric razor is a seriously cool looking piece of kit, it is packed full of James Bond-esk gadgets and will make you the envy of other men and will please your girlfriend because your skin will be silky smooth. I liked the Braun because it is the first electric shaver I have used that did not rip my face to shreds or leave much redness, shaving rash was also all but eliminated. This type of gadget really can make shaving less of a daily chore and more fun – I would recommend it for people in a hurry on the move, so basically a good fit for any working man out there. You can currently pick up the Braun series 790cc for £179 on Amazon – that’s £130 cheaper than the RRP – and Christmas is just around the corner too :-).
