To Gadgets and Gizmos,

I have recently invested in a new Sony HD tv and was wondering what I should buy. Should I buy a Sony PlayStation 3 because of its Blu Ray drive or should I get sky HD. The Sony playstation 3 is a mighty machine and of course includes a blu-ray player as standard.  This means you could have crystal clear HD quality movies through your new TV and you can of course enjoy your gaming. But as soon as you switch it off you will be right back to standard definition tv.

If you decide to go for Sky HD then you can watch all your sport, movies, news, documentaries and even your wife’s chick flicks in glorious high definition.  If we had to choose one we would definetly go for Sky HD. Hope this helps

But Sony have announced that the PS3 20 GB and 60 GB will be discontinued in Japan at the end of January.

The reason has not officially been announced but I suspect it has something to do with the very popular 40 GB model that is outselling all other PS3 models in Japan.

The withdrawal of the 60 GB and 40GB models means that there will no longer be backwards compatibility for PlayStation 2 games in Japan. There has been no news of the rest of the global market but I think change will be inevitable.
