One hugely interesting new development which looks like changing our spending habits in the future is the Near Field Communication (NFC) which appears to be something we can expect to see on a lot of mobile phones in the years to come. With a wave of the phone, bills can be paid without your wallet even leaving your pocket. NFC is already included on the Android Gingerbread OS and is rumoured to be coming to the iPhone in the near future. The future Do you remember 10 or 20 years ago when you paid for most things with real, hard cash?...

One of the great things about the CES is the number of link ups we see between different companies which bring us the best of what both firms offer. This time around a collaboration which is causing a stir is that between Nike and TomTom to come up with the Nike+ Sportswatch with a GPS facility driven by TomTom. It is a runner’s watch and the design is fantastically stylish. It is also really slim considering the amount of features which it packs in. If you want to keep a perfectly accurate note of how far you have run and then be able...

They are promising an ‘tablet evolution’ with links to a teaser video for their new tablet hotly tipped to be named the Motorola Xoom. The video starts off with tablets of stone working through time until 2010 when it picks at the ‘weak’ points of the Galaxy Tablet and iPad. The video says the iPad is ‘like a giant iPhone’ and that the Samsung Galaxy Tab only has Android but only ‘Android OS for a phone’...

Samsung is going to launch their hotly anticipated Galaxy Player next week at the International Consumer Electronics Show – CES 2011. The device will be the first of its’ kind as it will run on Android 2.2 (Froyo) – critics and analysts are already hailing the device as a possible iPod killer, a bold claim but one that could be true, on paper at least. The device will be a mere 9.9mm thick, be powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird Processor, include a 4-inch touch screen, a DVB Tuner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Dual-camera, GPS support, HD video...

Last week we spoke about this year’s top Christmas gadget, a survey suggested that Apple would rule the roost with their iPhone 4 and iPad tablet. The third party survey was taken in October, way before the Kinect was released and before the thought of Christmas had really taken hold. Over the last week we have talked about demand out stripping supply on both the Playstation Move and Xbox 360 Kinect, will this make any difference to the overall top gadget by Christmas? Apple undoubtedly has a strong hand with sales of their handsets...
