Replying to an inquiry on the NeoGAF forums, Jaffe said that the game’s launch in Europe will be moved to the beginning of March because of localization efforts. He explained that some content of the game will be cut to make it eligible to some of the continent’s markets.

“Ninety nine percent of the cuts were in the movies and the movies are still intact and I sat with the editor — the same editor of the American movies — and we went through and addressed the notes from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and made sure the stories still worked,” Jaffe said. “And to be fair, there have not been that many cuts.”

One example is where Tooth gets stabbed in the eye by a girl. He said that the scene was cut right before the scissors make contact with the character’s face.

He revealed that small details of the gameplay have been slightly changed.

Sony has not announced the game’s official release date in Europe, but people from other regions will still enjoy the game come Valentine’s Day.

If you still want to enjoy the game, you can order it online on February 14, but you’ll have to shell out more for the shipping fees.

This contradicts reports that Microsoft will finally unveil the successor of Xbox 360 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012 (E3 2012), followed by its release in late 2013. Rumor has it that the new console will sport a Blu-ray drive and come with a AMD 40 nanometer Radeon 6000 GPU.

“We are in an industry where it talks a lot, it likes to tell stories,” Delmas said in the interview. “I’m not convinced that things are happening this year. The cycle of the Xbox 360 is far from over. The proof we are not at all parties on the logic of price drop this year. Then what will happen at E3, it is still premature. What is certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012.”

Nintendo, the company’s Japanese rival, meanwhile, is preparing to launch the Wii U, its latest gaming console offering that is set to be released in the second half of 2012.

The Microsoft France marketing director said that Nintendo is walking a different path from Microsoft and it is “going forward to its own rhythm, with success as we have seen with the Wii, and now it’s their turn to present their innovation.”

At a meeting with the company’s investors, Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo announced that they will be working on a new online gaming network for their new systems.

Iwata announced that the company will be rebranding the “Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection” to the new “Nintendo Network,” which will sport a variety of new features for the Wii U and the 3DS, including support for multiple users and digital distribution of packaged software.

“This concept was built into the design of the Nintendo 3DS, and we already have the necessary infrastructure,” said Iwata. “We will prepare the same infrastructure for the Wii U. However, we have not decided the concrete timing of when we will start it. The decision must be made by taking into consideration such factors as the relationship with the wholesalers and retailers, and the best way to be embraced by consumers, as well as the environment surrounding the market and consumers, such as the required memory capacity on consumers’ SD memory cards.”

Just recently, the company has made improvements to the 3DS’ online shop, offering game demos, enabling download of a number of games simultaneously while in sleep mode and giving users the ability to store a credit card number.

With this new online service, Nintendo is attempting to make an online service that will rival Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. This will be helpful because Nintendo will now be able to patch buggy games, which is a bit of a hassle.

Selling more than 66 million units of Xbox 360 consoles and around 18 million units of its Kinect peripheral since its launch, Microsoft is looking to generate more revenue when it releases Xbox Live to other platforms. Xbox Live are only available to Windows Phone at this time.

“While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices,” a spokesman from Microsoft said. “To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.”

This is exciting news for those who want to use the service but opt to use Android and iOS platforms, which are the two leading mobile operating systems in the world. Microsoft has launched Xbox Live and Kinectimals on the iOS platform just recently.

Rumors began earlier this month when Microsoft posted a job listing for a Software Development Engineer, who will be working with the Xbox Live team “to bring the latest and greatest gaming and entertainment experience to mobile platforms including Windows Phone, iOS, and other mobile platforms.”

This would mean that Microsoft is willing to sacrifice its own mobile OS to get a greater share in the mobile gaming market.

Formerly branded as Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the team changed it to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to differentiate the original series from the new. The Metal Gear Rising series is an offshoot of the Solid series, as the gameplay is more of a hack-and-slash and fast-paced as opposed to the stealth based nature of the original. Minami said that stealth isn’t incorporated in the game because it “didn’t fit with the new nature of the game.”

The game is being made by Platinum Games, a Japanese game studio responsible for creating the games Bayonetta, Vanquish MadWorld and Anarchy Reigns.

Kojima also reminded readers once again that he is not involved in the game’s development at all. It was also revealed that the game’s ‘mysterious’ director is Kenji Saito, the main programmer of Bayonetta.

Revengeance stars Raiden, the cyborg ninja who made his debut in Metal Gear Solid 2. The events take place between Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is expected to launch later this year for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Electronic Arts said that the collaboration between the company and Perry would see the development of games within the Sims franchise. Perry will debut in the collectors’ edition The Sims 3 Showtime: Katy Perry, which will be launched in March 2012.

The Sims is a game that lets players control their own avatar as they go on living their lives. Showtime, an expansion of The SIms 3, enables players to turn their characters into superstars, including professional DJs, singers, acrobats and magicians.

“I love how you’re able to play out different stories through your Sims characters – giving them different careers and watching them succeed,” Perry said in a message. “It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour – even my cotton candy video screens are in there! The OnLive cloud gaming service enables users to play a huge selection of console-quality games on devices like tablets and PCs. Now, select Google TV devices like media streaming boxes, Blu-ray players and TVs will be able to play games via OnLive without having to use a gaming console.

“OnLive brings to Google TV users instant on-demand gameplay from a rapidly growing library of the latest high-performance console-class titles, as well exclusive social features such as worldwide massive spectating and Brag Clip videos with full group voice and text chat,” Google announced on Wednesday during the CES 2012 event. “The OnLive Viewer, enabling OnLive social features, is available immediately on all Google TV devices currently in the market and is compatible with standard Google TV remote controls as well as the OnLive Wireless Controller and standard USB game controllers.”

The full version of OnLive and the OnLive wireless controller will work on current and future offerings of Google TV. The OnLive desktop service, which was just announced recently, will also be available in the device. The desktop service delivers a seamless PC desktop, allowing sharing of videos and photos, business presentations and other media applications possible.

This move by both companies will finally offer consumers a better deal than other Internet TV platforms. With the integration of a powerful gaming machine to Google’s TV service, it will give it the edge it needs to stay ahead.

Right now, no technical specs have been released for the two, but both the NSZ-GS7 media player and the NSZ-GP9 Blu-ray player looks great. Aside from its design, both devices will support 3D TVs and features voice and gesture control, in addition to its new remote control keyboard and Google apps.

Both models have support for content streaming from tablets and smartphones, and they have tighter integration with Sony Entertainment Network. Also, having been built on Google TV 2.0 with Android Market support, users will have access to apps like Netflix, Pandora and HBO Go.

“We’re excited about our strong partnership with Sony on Google TV” said Google TV’s Vice Presideng of Product Management Mario Queiroz. “Consumers have reacted very positively to the Google TV software update of last October, and we are looking forward to bringing new devices of different form factors to consumers in multiple countries in 2012.”

Queiroz said that both the NSZ-GP9 Blu-ray disc player and the NSZ-GS7 Network Media player devices will have a North American, European and UK release dates of “early summer 2012.”

It has been reported that Microsoft has signaled to its partners plans to unveil the new Xbox 720 gaming console at E3 2012, according to gaming news site MCV. Sony executives, meanwhile, have pledged to developers that the company will now be left behind and is expected to unveil the PlayStation 4 right after Microsoft does its launch.

“This is very credible. Even if we don’t see the hardware itself, or know a price or date, key publishers and developers are expecting some nod towards what direction PS4 will take at E3 this year,” said MCV’s Michael French. “Sony isn’t stupid – it knows that if Microsoft is planning to also say something about its next console, it can’t be left behind.”

If these rumors are to be believed, it will be the first time in E3′s 17-year history that the three major console makers will be unveiling their devices, which will be available for comparison.

Meanwhile, Sony reacted to the news, denying that they will unveil the fourth-generation PlayStation console at the gaming event.

“I don’t think we’re contemplating talking about anything to do with future console iterations at this point,” Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, told CVG. House noted that the company is just entering a great period for the PlayStation 3.

Sony sold almost 50 percent of its stake to Samsung for £602 million ($940 million), subject to a final agreement, the company said Monday. The joint venture, which is called S-LCD, was set up in April 2004 in Tanjeong, South Korea.

The sale of the stake allows Sony CEO Howard Stringer to let go of the responsibility of manufacturing LCD panels amid losses in the TV market, where Samsung is the world’s leader.

“In terms of direction it is a positive for Sony. But if they are making a loss on the sale, one could ask why they didn’t make this decision sooner,” said Mito Securities analyst Keita Wakabayashi. “Their biggest problem is that they are not making a profit even though they don’t have many plants.”

Sony is aiming to secure a steady and flexible supply of display panels from Samsung without being responsible for the costs of manufacturing. This would give Samsung the ability to take control of S-LCD.

The deal means that the South Korean company has taken over Sony as the top company in consumer electronics. Samsung earned $14 billion in its latest full financial year, on sales of Over $134 billion, while Sony has lost $3 billion.
