The G9X model mouse will cost £69, while the G105 model keyboard will retail for £59.

“The Logitech Gaming Keyboard G105 and the Logitech Laser Mouse G9X are perfect for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 enthusiasts who want the best in precision and customization for their gaming experience,” said Logitech’s Senior Product Marketing Manager for Gaming Chris Pate. “Both devices let you jump right into the action with the power to perform complex maneuvers with confidence.”

The Logitech G9X Laser Mouse gives gamers game-changing precision at speeds up to 165 inches per second on popular mouse surfaces. Its adjustable dpi takes you from pixel-precise targeting (200dpi) to ultra-fast maneuvers (5700 dpi) without pausing. It features the MicroGear Precision Scroll wheel, which is perfect for weapon selection on the fly.

A weight tuning system also enables users to customize the mouse, with up to 28 grams of extra weight that one can add for perfect control. Users can also customize the mouse’s LED color, so they can match the mouse to their PCs or styles.

The G105 Gaming Keyboard enables users to play long hours, even in the dark, with its night-vision green LED backlight. It features six programmable G-keys, with three mode states. The G105 keyboard provides up to 18 macro combinations, which lets users perform single keystrokes or multi-key combinations, per game.

With the multi-key input, users can perform multiple (and more complex) actions without ghosting that occurs on other keyboards. It also has media controls, so users will have instant access to volume and mute buttons.

Visit the Logitech website for more information. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be launched on November 8, 2011.

via: Geeky Gadgets

Logitech announces their CoD: MW3 keyboard and mouse is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

Nvidia Kal-El will have five cores

Misc

News

PC Peripherals

processor

Tegra

Last week, Nvidia teased us with a roadmap of its Tegra system on a chip (SoC). Kal-El, the company’s third generation SoC has been delayed a number of months as it originally expected the first Kal-El-equipped tablets would be shipped in August. Now, the company is looking for a release sometime in the fourth quarter.

Nvidia’s General Manager of Mobile Business Mike Rayfield said that Kal-El will have five cores, enabling it to consume less power than chips from Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) and Qualcomm, as well as their own Tegra 2 chip that are currently installed in devices like the Motorola Xoom.

“Anything any dual core can do…I do it better with lower power in my quad core,” said Rayfield. “It really did come into a lower power envelope than a dual core and much higher peak performance.”

The company now introduces a fifth, companion core, to handle the system’s low power tasks, similar to running a system in sleep mode, checking emails and keeping the device alive when reading a book. When the companion core is running, other cores can be shut down.

Nvidia does not want to use the companion core to handle heavy loads, or it would start consuming too much power. In order to do so, the core’s frequency has been set with a range of 0 to 0.5 GHz.

So, the new chipsets will be quad core that just has an additional companion core to conserve power. With the new 4 + 1 set up, the Kal-El will provide a boost to a devices battery life, even with its additional cores.

via: Anandtech

Nvidia Kal-El will have five cores is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

Intel Ivy Bridge chipset has 4K HD video support

News

PC Peripherals

processor

Sandy Bridge

videos

Ivy Bridge, the 22 nanometer successor to Intel’s dominant Sandy Bridge processors, has been creating buzz at the IDF this past week. And still, one of its key features managed to go unnoticed: the graphics processing unit integrated inside the chip. The said graphic processor will be able to decode videos at a resolution of up to a staggering 4096 x 2304 pixels.

The highest resolution consumer displays that are out on the market can only support resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600, so we can expect displays that can deliver higher resolutions with the release of the Intel Ivy Bridge chipset.

The additional graphics power of the chipset means that a laptop will ahve the capacity to power huge professional-grade displays. To match that kind of performance today, one should have to invest in expensive video cards.

The 4K HD is the next major step in video size and quality after the 1080p Full-HD video, which is the standard resolution for Blu-ray discs and the maximum resolution for most HDTVs. With the support for 4K HD videos, computers that have Ivy Bridge chipsets will be able to play 4K video files without experiencing problems. According to Intel, the new chipset can play multiple 4K HD videos simultaneously.

The Intel Ivy Bridge will also feature a faster 3D graphics capabilities, but its 4K support is likely a good investment. Soon, we’ll be seeing 4K displays become more affordable and eventually make it to our houses for us to enjoy.

via: 9 to 5 Mac

Intel Ivy Bridge chipset has 4K HD video support is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

3M PocketProjector MPro 180 review

PC Peripherals

Reviews

3M

3M PocketProjector MPro 180

pico

projector

review

3M has been in the pico projector market for a while now and each model they launch brings more features and more brightness. The 3M PocketProjector MPro 180 offers a bright 30 ANSI from its LED light source, which is double the output of of its predecessor, the MPro 150.

The 3M PocketProjector MPro 180′s liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) projector has a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, and can support input resolutions up to 1440 x 900. It is not the lightest pico projector in the market though as it weighs in at 338 g, and its 3-cell 2600 mAh Li-ion battery makes it a little bulky with dimensions of 150 x 65 x 33.5 mm. The projector’s battery pack can power the device for two hours, so a spare battery must be purchased.

Surprisingly, the device only has VGA and composite video inputs (no HDMI). It has 4 GB of flash storage and a micro SD slot at the side. It can also be connected to a PC or laptop via the supplied mini-USB cable and bluetooth which can also be used to copy files. 3M also has released an AV adapter for iPods and iPhones that costs £28.99.

The 3M PocketProjector MPro 180 performs weel, though. IT can project images that range from 10-inches to 80-inches from a distance of three meters. The quality of photos is quite reasonable, but it lacks sharpness.

To get the best out the the device, you’ll need a dark room and stick with a wall space sized of 60-inches to 70-inches.

The MPro 180 is an attractive pocket projector for the on-the-go professional. It’s compact and well-built body, and its built-in memory will make you leave your laptop in the office. Its touchscreen controls and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity makes it the ultimate device for your needs, just make sure that it is right for your budget.

<a The study also shows that hardware theft is more rampant in more sophisticated and developing economies.

In a study conducted by the Business Software Alliance (BSA), it found that 13 percent of PC users in the world buy genuine software, while 40 percent of the world’s computer using population bought their computer software “mostly legally.”

The rest, or 47 percent, have pirated software installed in their computers. This device is a wireless games controller, much like the Wii controller and the PlayStation Move, that can be used to put the fun back into computer gaming.

The motion sensitive Wizard Stick is connected wirelessly to PCs, enabling unprecedented control of applications and games by waving or moving the controller in the air. The Wizard Stick can also be used like a conventional controller. The device includes the AIWI gaming platform, which includes 16 flash games that can be played on the AIWI website. This controller even comes with a copy of Sega’s Virtua Tennis 2009, from the critically-acclaimed Virtua Tennis series.

The Genius Wizard Stick enables players to play standing up and really get into the game rather than just sitting in front of the computer. The Wizard Stick works by connecting wirelessly to a small receiver that plugs into any USB 2.0 socket.

The package also comes with the downloadable AIWI software, which can turn any Android phone, iPhone or iPod Touch into a wireless motion controller for multiplayer gaming. The Wizard Stick also features an “air mouse mode,” where the device can be used to control the mouse cursor with the device.

The Genius Wizard Stick runs on two AA-sized batteries and comes with a wrist strap.

The Genius Wizard Stick Wireless Motion Joystick has a suggested retail price of £37 ($59.90) and is available now.

via: Genius

Genius launches its Wizard Stick controller for PC is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

LG unveils its LSM-100 mouse with built-in scanner

News

PC Peripherals

LG

LSM-100

mouse

scanner

Korean tech company LG Electronics will be starting a new era for scanners with its new LSM-100. The LSM-100 may look just like an ordinary mouse, but it also has a built-in scanner. The company incorporated technology specifically created for this new device, as the LSM-100 offers users a set of functions that blend convenience and innovation.

The LSM-100 scanner feature is far more convenient than traditional scanners. To scan an image, users have to hold the “Smart Scan” button on the left side of the device, then simply swipe the mouse over the image to be scanned.

The scanned image can be saved in a number of file types, including JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, PDF, DOC, XLS and DPC. The image can also be dragged and dropped into any application of choice.

“The LSM-100 is also a top-end mouse,” LG Electronics stated in the device’s press release. “The laser sensor is accurate and durable, and the stylish design lends itself to easy, smooth motions as well as providing an ergonomic, comfortable grip.”

The LSM-100 also has LG’s Optical Character Recognition technology, which can convert scanned texts into digital text files that can be edited by the user. This will eliminate the need to retype text from printed copies, saving a great deal of time.

No pricing details for the LSM-100 has been released by LG yet, but the company said that it intends to launch the product in North America, Europe and other markets in September.

via: TechRadar

LG unveils its LSM-100 mouse with built-in scanner is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

Keyless Lifebook Keyboard allows custom layouts

News

PC Peripherals

concepts

Design

gaming

keyboards

The Fujitsu Design awards are an event that allows the most talented minds and creative sorts from all over the world to let loose with new ideas. No concept is turned away so long as it’s useful, one such concept is the Keyless Lifebook. The Lifebook is a keyboard that is truly customisable, it uses a tablet like screen which can be easily programmed to show a variety of keys, layouts and buttons.

The concept is like a modern day ergonomic keyboard, the key difference is that users can choose where to place the keys and in fact what is actually displayed. Other nice touches include the ability to change the colour of the entire keyboard or even individual keys and because it’s based on a projection it can work effortlessly in a number of languages.

The Lifebook also offers full gesture control similar to the magic trackpad used on Apple iMacs, this multi gesture control means you can enlarge photos by pinching, rotate them twisting your fingers and swipe to flick through a gallery. The keyboard itself looks a little like the Razer Switchblade but offers a whole heap more customisation. At this stage it looks like the concept is attached to a notebook, presumably because the software is pretty complex and can’t be used in a standalone keyboard yet.

When it can though every PC owner will surely be scrambling to get their mitts on it!

Source: Design Boom

Keyless Lifebook Keyboard allows custom layouts is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

Official Doctor Who PC Case Commissioned with BBC Blessing

News

PC Peripherals

bbc

case mods

Doctor Who

We love a good case mod as much as the next geek but this Doctor. Who T.A.R.D.I.S case is the best one we have seen in a while. The case designer is a British engineer commissioned with the blessing of the BBC. At this stage it’s a prototype and a work in progress and the guy manning the stand at this years gadget show was very excited indeed.

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that the handles are sized differently; a detail that the unschooled might think is a mistake. It’s not though, they are supposed to be like that and the designer has gone to great lengths to make it as accurate as possible.

The power switch is located in the beacon on top of the TARDIS, push it down and it lights up powering up the PC which weighs a tonne according to the guy on the stand. The case is made of aluminium and steel making it very strong and very heavy.

The front facing USB ports are housed behind the closed door along with the DVD tray, a neat feature we think you’ll agree.

The rear of the case is pretty standard at this stage with each one reportedly being built to order when it finally goes on sale later this year. Buyers will be able to choose from a huge array of specs was there is plenty of space for a beefy set up. At this stage we are unsure on who is actually selling this machine because it is just a prototype – we will bring you more news once we have it.

How much would you love to have this PC on your desk?

Official Doctor Who PC Case Commissioned with BBC Blessing is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos

The LG Scanner Mouse

News

PC Peripherals

CES

LG

mouse

scanner

I mentioned recently the new Microsoft Touch Mouse on show here at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. While it is a very exciting type of peripheral which lets you control your Windows through gestures there is another interesting new mouse on display here which it is well worth having a look at as well.

LG are the company who are trying to change our idea of how we use a mouse, and they are doing it by presenting to the world the Scanner Mouse, or to give if its full title the LG LSM-100. The first name I used kind of gives the game away, and if you like the idea of a mouse which doubles as a scanner then this could be a great little gadget for you.

The underside of the mouse is transparent and has 5 LEDs, a mirror and a camera tucked away inside it. To scan something you just need to press the scan button and follow the onscreen display which shows you what the mouse is currently sitting on.

It has dual lasers on the bottom which let you twist and turn it anyway you want to. Of course, as it doubles as a conventional mouse you get a scroll wheel and the usual buttons. One neat trick is that is that whatever you scan can be edited very smoothly once it is on your computer.

The software that comes with the Scanner Mouse lets you export files in formats such as PDF, PNG, JPEG and TIFF to social networking sites. Expect it to cost $120 when it goes on sale around May.

Here is a hands on by the guys from Engadget:

Could you see yourself using this scanning mouse to save space where your current scanner sits and also to make scanning a little bit more fun at the same time? Will people prefer a mouse that scans to a mouse that can be controlled by gestures?

The LG Scanner Mouse is a post from: Gadgets and gizmos
