A girl in China decided to offer her virginity in exchange for an iPhone 4, as the craze to own an Apple product continues to gather steam.
The girl, a ‘jiulinghou,’ which refers to people who are born in the 90s, posted in Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter) “My dream is to buy an iPhone 4. But my Dad refused to buy it for me. Is there anyone, who can buy it and give it to me as a present? I can offer my precious INNOCENT LUST for him.” In a sudden act of desperation, she decided to have sex with someone in exchange for the smartphone.
Her age is still a mystery, but some reports say she’s 18. A number of people reacted negatively to her post, with some posting negative comments.
An unlocked iPhone sells in China for 5,000 yuan (£500) and the white version is very popular in the mainland. There are around 4 million iPhone users in China, according to Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities.
Some people said that the post is fake, while others joked by saying that she should wait for the iPhone 5 release date. Some wonder if somebody hacked into her Weibo account and played a prank to embarrass her.
Last April, a 17-year-old boy from the Anhui province of Guandong sold his kidney to buy an iPad 2. It was reported that Xiao Zheng sold his kidney for 22,000 yuan (£2120).
