Coca-Cola and Assouline Produce Coke History App

Coca-Cola has produced a digital rendition of the Assouline print edition which shows the firms 125 history in glorious HD.

This interesting app documents Coca-Cola’s history using the brand own advertisements, vintage adverts, animations, film placements, Musical appearances and other iconic moments from the American press.

On the face of it, this app sounds like a crazy idea. It costs £2.99 to download, which seems expensive for an app which is glorified advertising for the brand. Despite this initial skepticism I was won over, the app makes you sit back and take in the history of Coca-Cola from their fueling of the troops during world war 2 (they took mobile bottling plants to Europe to keep up with demand) to the modern day ‘Holidays are coming’ advert which signals the start of Christmas for people in my household.

The app also includes behind the scenes footage of K’NAAN performing the song from the 2010 world cup in South Africa, Super Bowl advertisements and Facebook like buttons so you can share it with your friends.

They have also produced a short video, which contains some impressive information on its  own. This is another great example of how super brands can spread the word using technology, the app is digital and can provide viral content using social channels.

Let us know what you think of the app and video below.
