Diablo III, Blizzard Entertainment’s highly-anticipated online game, will not be hitting shelves until next year, said the company’s chief executive officer.
Blizzard is known for taking its time before launching a game. The company said that it will use the time to extend the game’s beta testing, possibly adding more testers than what has initially expected.
“With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn’t put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready,” said Blizzard Entertainment CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime. “The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we’re taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers.”
This announcement serves as good news for those who couldn’t get into the beta. Players who have a Battle.net account with any game from Blizzard attached to it can visit the account management for a chance to be a beta tester, said the company. Additional testing phases wll be posted on Diablo3.com, Blizzard’s Diablo III community site.
The closed beta test lets players play through the game’s Act I as any of the five character classes (barbarian, wizard, monk, demon hunter and witch doctor), and go against the Skeleton King alone or with other adventurers.

I can't wait for this game, especially because I didn't get into the beta… I just found this site http://www.diablo3skills.net/. It has all the skills for Diablo 3 as well as the runestone effects on each skill.
Arrghh! I new this would happen. At least we know that Blizzard will make sure that the game is flawless for release. Also, Blizzard are great for making MAC compatible versions, which means no Bootcamp! Worth the wait!
