Doctor Who TARDIS PC Case Update

Posted on Apr 10 2012 - 1:09pm by Richard Sharp

Back in 2011 we got our first glimpse of a cool new PC case modelled on Doctor Who’s T.A.R.D.I.S. Since then we’ve had many questions on the case such as:

Who’s it made by?
How much will it cost?
Do the doors open?
When can I get it?

And we’re thrilled to announce that we have the answers and more photos of the unit in the flesh.

We’ve been to see Scan and can confirm that the Police Phone Box will be available from Scan for the princely sum of £745.99 including VAT. Some might say that’s a tad expensive, others would say its a small price to pay(especially if you’re a Doctor Who mega fan).

We can also confirm that the doors on the front do not open, although it does come complete with authentic handles and the officially worded sign.

We also got a sneaky look at the back, which was full of cables as it was being used to run the stalls tills.

So what do you think? Is this a must have for Who fans?

Door sign's wrong for the Matt Smith era TARDIS… admittedly only by one letter, but if you're selling to geeks, they WILL notice and the WILL point it out. Like this one did.

I would love to see this as an empty case – I would LOVE to build my new Frankenstein computer in that beauty! That would just so completely make my life!

It would be awesome, wouldn't it? Sadly we don't think it's on the cards.

Based on the view of the backplane, and the overall dimensions in comparison, I suspect it would be a microATX case at BEST, and more likely just a miniITX. Of course, you could build a decent HTPC with mITX and this case… 😉

It's a full ATX motherboard. It's bigger on the inside.

Is it or will it be available for sale in the U.S. and if so how much?

Not that we are aware of, but as Doctor Who is huge in America it's hopefully only a matter of time. Fingers crosse for you ;-).

Where is the DVD drive located if the front doesn't open.? It looks cool, not sure how practical it is though since you didn't give much more than a puff report on it.. 🙂

Puff report? Lol. The DVD drive is at the top. The doors don't actually open.
