Facebook Most Searched and Most Visited in 2010

Facebook was in the limelight for a good portion of 2010, barely a day went by without a story about the world’s largest social networking site. Whether the news was good or bad press the site has gone from strength to strength and has been officially named as the most searched for keyword in 2010 receiving an impressive 2.11% of all searches.

The research was performed by Experian Hitwise, who looked at the top 1000 search terms across the internet. They discovered that four of the top ten search terms were in fact Facebook related; they included the term Facebook, Facebook Login, Facebook.com and www.facebook.com.

The analysis also showed that Facebook is now the most visited website in the US and the overall search volume for the site increased 207% from 2009. Facebook will look to dominate again in 2011, possibly increasing their 25% share of all internet traffic. The social snowball just keeps on growing, with new profiles rolling out all over the world users will soon all be experiencing a new look and interface.
