Facebook Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said yesterday that in the next week, they are planning to “launch something awesome.” With rumors circulating that Facebook is finally done making its own iPad app, people couldn’t think of something more “awesome” for them to release.
The few people who have seen the app, claim that it has “a slick design that has been tailored for the iPad and its touchscreen interface. Facebook developers and designers have also overhauled the Facebook Chat and Facebook Groups features for the application. And the app will go beyond the features available on the Facebook Web site by allowing users to shoot and upload photos and videos directly from the iPad’s built-in cameras.”
Also rumored to be launched is the company’s ‘Project Spartan,’ which is reported to be a web-based app store platform that is focused on the iPad. It was previously reported that known iPhone and PlayStation 3 jailbreaker George Hotz, or GeoHot, has been hired by Facebook to work on Project Spartan for the iPad.
Yesterday, the company released an the version 3.4.3 update for its Facebook app for iPhone, giving its users access to a new menu in landscape mode. These changes are said to be made to prepare for the app’s iPad launch.
The spokespeople from Facebook declined to comment on Zuckerberg’s announcement, so we’ll just have to wait for the official announcement from the company.
