Fender Squier Stratocaster Takes Rock Band 3 to Next Level

Legendary guitar manufacturer Fender has officially announced today that their electric guitar come Rock Band 3 controller will hit the shelves next year. Lucky gamers/musicians  will be able to own their very own Squier Stratocaster from March 1st 2011 – but the privilege won’t come cheap.

An official company press release has revealed that the Squier Strat will retail for $279.99, not bad when you consider it is an actual guitar as well as a cool controller. The announcement also said that pre-orders will begin on January 1st with delivery from March 1st 2011.

The pictures and video of the new guitar make it look undeniably cool, dare I say it much cooler than the Mad Catz Fender Mustang Pro guitar that is already on the market. This guitar uses 102 buttons with six string sensors so it still has a gaming feel – more suited to the guitar hero pro than the actual guitar players among us.

One thing that is certain is this strat will set the cat among the pigeons, some people will think it’s too expensive while others will think it is essential, either way it’s hard to deny it is a big step forward for Rock Band controllers and may be a perfect way for gaming ‘rock gods’ to push their skills to a higher level.
