Google Chrome OS will Release in 2010

Google has revealed that their Chrome operating system will be available before the end of the year. The search giant released the information to TechCrunch explaining that they are certain their OS will be available in 2010.

It was previously thought that Chrome would launch in unison and be installed on the fabled ‘Chromebook’ devices, this however seems to be inaccurate with the report saying the OS is more likely to launch as a Beta this year in preparation of a plethora of Google devices in 2011.

At the Web 2.0 conference  Eric Schmidt explained that Chrome is meant for ‘keyboards’ not touch, indicating that he doesn’t consider the OS to be a rival to iOS, it’s clear that he feels Android is doing giving Apple a pretty good run for its money on its own. It’s unclear what gadget manufacturers make of this claim and we wouldn’t be too surprised if Chrome appears on more than one handset or tablet in 2011.

So today’s news is bitter sweet, yes we will see the Chrome OS in 2010 but not in the form we wanted.

Are you looking forward to Google Chrome OS?
