GTA IV is the best selling title in the car jacking, gangster inspired street shooting series but gamers are looking ahead to the next game GTA V. The fifth game in the series has been tipped for a 2012 release, possibly with an E3 2012 unveiling.

The news comes from Gamespot, which has been talking with the games creator – Take-Two. The latter has revealed a few minor details and the fact that a 2012 release date for GTA V is ‘pretty likely’.

During the article the source also revealed that GTA 5 will be ‘the big one’, presumably it will offer more features and improved gameplay when compared to the current game. The source also confirmed that development was ‘well under way’ with some sources, such as T3 quoting that Rockstar and Take-Two are at the stage where they are polishing off the mini-games that added quirks and extra fun to the other games.

Apart from that, details are pretty thin on the ground. Recent rumours relating to the setting suggest that a return to California could be on the cards. Expect updated cars, scenery and weapons and improved cut scenes too.

What would you like to see on the new GTA game?
