We all love to go online but is it true that you can also make some cash while you do it? Let’s have a look at some of the online money making methods you may have heard of:
Work as a freelancer
There are now lots of sites where you can register as a freelancer – oDesk, Elance, Freelancer etc – and try to earn money. The range of jobs you can apply for is as varied as the pay on offer. You could work as a virtual admin assistant, a writer, a graphic artist or any of a huge number of other jobs. Jobs are usually either paid on a fixed price basis or per hour worked and it is becoming an increasingly popular way of working all over the world.
Set up your own site
There are different ways of doing this but the first point to consider is whether you are going to sell a real, tangible product or simply try to attract visitors to click on your sponsored ads and give you advertising revenue. You also need to decide whether to do all the work yourself or hire out the website creation and content writing to those freelancers we mentioned in the first point. If you decide to do it all yourself you should be prepared for a lot of late nights.
Go for an online franchise
This is similar to the last point but the big difference is that the site and most of the strategies will come from the firm and you will probably need to simply build up a pyramid of other sellers and also obtain customers to buy the product.
Work as a mystery shopper
We must confess that we don’t know anyone who works at this but apparently it can be done and does pay decent money. You need to buy products, ask for customer service help and then rate the company.
Buy and sell things online
There are a number of sites which let you do this and while simply selling your old stuff instead of letting it rot is the most common approach you could also consider making a business out of virtual wheeling and dealing.
Make a YouTube video
This sounds a bit silly but you get given a very small fee by YouTube every time you reach a certain number of views. The people who have submitted the most viewed videos can earn around $100,000 a year. In 2009 just 10 people made it to this level but if you come up with a great song and some funky dance steps you just never know.
