iPhone 5 Inventory Leaked: Release Date on the 4th October?

Posted on Oct 1 2011 - 3:31pm by Richard Sharp

As you may of heard, Apple will hold a press event on Tuesday 4th October with the general consensus that they will unveil a new device. Initially everyone (including us) thought this must be for the iPhone 5 release date. However, naysayers (not us) have since suggested that the event could be for a different reason.

Naysayers be gone…

Because a new post from 9 to 5 Mac has leaked an ‘official’ inventory which lists a new iPhone complete with all new specs. Over the past few months reports have suggested that the iPhone 5 (or 4S) will come equipped with an updated 8MP camera from Sony, 1GB of Ram, improved Nuance Voice control and could even come equipped with Apples own NFC technology.

All of the above is all up for debate at this stage, one aspect that seems certain is that the new iPhone will use the same A5 processor as the iPad 2. Some had previously suggested that a lack of chips could force Apple to use the A4 again, but the inventory listing clearly shows the dual core A5 chip will come as standard across the new iPhone range.

iPhone 5 or 4S?

The general feeling is that a new iPhone will be launched on the 4th October, probably with iOS 5 (including information on when the general iOS 5 release date). However, nobody knows whether is will be branded as a iPhone 4s or 5, the photo does show 4S branding which is the strongest indication yet.

Do you think Apple will launch the iPhone 5 on the 4th, what features would you like to see?
