For those who are eagerly waiting to get their hands on an iPhone 5 can pre-order it right now. In Germany, mobile carrier Deutsche Telecom (known as T-Mobile in countries outside of Germany) is opening up a queue for iPhone 5 buyers who can’t seem to wait until the next iPhone has been announced or released before purchasing it.
According to Bloomberg, a spokesman from the German mobile phone carrier confirmed that as of Monday, people can make reservations for the next-generation iPhone. Deutsche Mobile, according to the report, is concerned about supply bottlenecks at the release of the smartphone.
The problem with this is nobody knows when the new iPhone will be released, its price, or if it even exists. The carrier is now offering “premiere tickets” to people who wants to reserve the iPhone now. The carrier fears that its demand will be too high and they wanted to give some customers the chance to get one of the limited number of stock the carrier will receive.
Another report from Focus.de noted that this reservation process is being kept under the dark, with no mention of it in its online stores or advertisements. The customers will have to go to the nearest retail stores and request for a voucher as a reservation for the device.
Apple is expected to have an iPhone 5 release date in October, departing from the company’s tradition of a summer launch. The timing also coincides with the company’s event to showcase its latest lineup of Apple TVs and iPods.
