With the expected announcement of an upcoming iPhone model weeks from now, new rumors have been starting to surface quickly. Now, the rumblings on the internet suggest that Apple will be launching a slightly upgraded version of the iPhone 4, with the iPhone 5’s release to be delayed until later in the year or next year.
According to Apple news site 9 to 5 Mac, the updated iPhone 4, or what the media calls the iPhone 4S, is already hot in production, with assemblers having produced millions of units. However, the true next-generation iPhone, the iPhone 5, is suffering shortages in production.
The site’s sources claim that the iPhone 5, which has an enlarged screen, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a rounded case, will get its own release at a later date. It also reported that due its shortages may run into 2012. With more people waiting for the iPhone 5 than they did with the fourth-generation iPhone, this is going to be a really big problem for the company.
The sources of 9 to 5 Mac also said that the iPhone 5 is impossibly light, yet “much firmer than Samsung Galaxy phones.” It also noted that the smartphone’s camera rivals those of commercial point and shoot cameras and it will be one of the major marketing points of the device.
