It’s All About the Rock and Knit, Dude

We are big fans of the kind of cutting edge gadgets which make you look incredibly cool and which cause members of the opposite sex to mop their fevered brow before swooning at your feet.
However, we also have to confess to having more than a passing interest in devices which you can use while wearing fluffy slippers and drinking a steaming mug of cocoa. Hey, it’s all about the diversity, man.

Anyway, if you like to enjoy a rocking motion and the odd homemade woolly hat then by Jove have we got the gadget which will make you drop your crossword on the floor in excitement. Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex are people who study at the groovily titled University of Art and Design Lausanne.

Wait for a Hat to Drop into Your Hands

What they have come up with is a rocking chair type contraption which knits while you rock gently to the strains of Val Doonican or Nirvana. Fans of the technical details of knitting will be delighted to find out that a spool of wool will pass through a gear mechanism and will slowly but surely knit a tube of wool which then goes down into the hands of the person who is rocking.

With a bit of good luck and some fortuitous timing you might just have your new woolly hat descend on your head as the sun goes down and it gets a bit chilly. In this case all you need to die is tie the top of it and you will be ready to warm your head without losing any of that rocking rhythm.
