If you want to watch films or sporting events in style then a normal giant flat screen television is no longer your only choice.

The latest intriguing viewing option comes from LG and is a home theatre projector which gives an astonishing 100 inches of viewing surface.

It is called the LG HECTO Laser TV and provides a 1080p system with the combination of an Ultra Short Throw projector and a special viewing screen. The projector needs just 2 feet of distance between it and the screen in order for it to work.

Set It Up How You Want to

hectoThis means that you have more options for where you locate it than you would have with a conventional projector system. You can still put it on the wall but another option is to set the whole system up more like you would with any other sort of big screen television.

The project comes with dual 10w speakers and smart TV functions such as video on demand and internet capability. All in all, the list of functions is pretty impressive. Equally interesting is the fact that the bulb in the HECTO is expected to last for an incredible 25,000 hours, which is about 5 times more than you would get from a standard mercury lamp.

Havis Kwon is the President and the CEO of LG and he said that in 2013 the firm will keep on producing “innovative TV products”. He also said that the 100 inch model is “perfectly suitable for both the boardroom and the living room”. It can also work with a normal lighting level instead of just in a darkened room.
