Valve has just announced that Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the continuation of one of the biggest first person shooters of all time, will be featuring full Steam integration.
In a press release that Valve sent out, the company confirmed that the upcoming PC version of Modern Warfare 3 on Steam will be taking advantage of the service’s Steamworks. This means that gamers can enjoy the PC version of the upcoming Call of Duty game to support offline play, auto updates, dedicated servers and achievements. The game’s predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, was developed using Steamworks as well.
“The PC version of the product will be powered with Steamworks for both the digital and tangible versions of the game and, as with all Steamworks titles, offline play will also be supported along with Auto-Updating, Achievements, and more,” stated in game’s press release. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also support dedicated servers on day 1.”
Steamworks just made its console debut just recently with the PlayStation 3. The press release did not mention if the console will have the same support.
