Native Instruments has announced the introduction of its new Traktor Kontrol S2 Digital DJ System to their line of musical devices. The new Traktor Kontrol S2’s design is based on the company’s Kontrol S4 hardware.

The Kontrol S2 is based on the compact version of the S4 and provides a 2+1 set up with sample decks. It also has comprehensive mixing and effects features based on the included Traktor Pro 2 software.

It offers DJs a more compact alternative to the 4-deck Traktor Kontrol S4. The Kontrol S2 provides Native Instrument’s patent-pending jog-wheels, combined with ergonomic controls for looping, cueing and effects. It has an integrated 24-bit/96 kHz sound card, with its stereo outputs based on the Traktor audio interface technology, which provides excellent sound quality.

The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 Digital DJ System has a simple loop workflow, which involves four decks without large controls. It maintains the same mixer spacing of the Kontrol S4 but smaller. The good thing about this device is it can run without a power supply as it can be powered by USB.

The Kontrol S2 is complemented by the sample decks of the Traktor 2 Pro software, which can add eight simultaneous samples or loops to the mix. Along with two stereo outputs, the S2 features a microphone input with a mute button and gain control to give DJs a powerful device to enhance their performance.

The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 will be available in October for 599 euros.

Interesting… although not really sure of the need for this 2 channel version, when the S4 is pretty much all you need for digital DJ'ing IMO. Was expecting it to be cheaper too! But I'm sure it will be a quality piece of kit.
