We love a good case mod as much as the next geek but this Doctor. Who T.A.R.D.I.S case is the best one we have seen in a while. The case designer is a British engineer commissioned with the blessing of the BBC. At this stage it’s a prototype and a work in progress and the guy manning the stand at this years gadget show was very excited indeed.
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that the handles are sized differently; a detail that the unschooled might think is a mistake. It’s not though, they are supposed to be like that and the designer has gone to great lengths to make it as accurate as possible.
The power switch is located in the beacon on top of the TARDIS, push it down and it lights up powering up the PC which weighs a tonne according to the guy on the stand. The case is made of aluminium and steel making it very strong and very heavy.
The front facing USB ports are housed behind the closed door along with the DVD tray, a neat feature we think you’ll agree.
The rear of the case is pretty standard at this stage with each one reportedly being built to order when it finally goes on sale later this year. Buyers will be able to choose from a huge array of specs was there is plenty of space for a beefy set up. At this stage we are unsure on who is actually selling this machine because it is just a prototype – we will bring you more news once we have it.
How much would you love to have this PC on your desk?
UPDATE: I was lucky enough to spot this case at another consumer electronics show. Read my Doctor WHO pc case update for details on price, specs and even more photos.

It needs a Dalek printer to go with it.
Need to mod something on this side of the pond.
Great Job. Let us know when it goes on sale!
Would like a picture of the doors open for the front usb ports and the drive. Really nice though.
The doors don't open
That's correct, we are meeting with the designer very soon to take more photographs and get more details on the T.A.R.D.I.S PC case
Is this going to be a possibility or probability?
it's a certainty - will be out in 2011 according to our sources
So where is it? Lost in the vortex?
Does it really have to weigh a tonne? That's a thousand kilograms! How would builders be able to move this baby around and open it up?
great now all i need to do is go into my system bios and change everything to its wibbly wobbly timely wimely version...again.
Do we know an exact release date for it? Or who it will retail from?
Any new Info?
Not yet I'm afraid. Will do some digging and post an update.
Awesome, Thanks.
Anything yet?...
Not yet :-(. Will check and update
I really want this! Do you have any new news?
We're awaiting some new photos from the designer. He has confirmed that doors in fact do not open :-(
i'm entirely ok with the doors not opening, but is available in 2011 still viable? it'd basically have to have come out like a week ago =/ i'm definitely intending to purchase one though so i'm quite currious
Is that PC made of wood or is that mental? Those are my thoughts, I want to build one one of my own with a gamer spec on the instide.
It's made out of metal and is heavy. When it goes on sale you'll be able to spec it however you want
