Otterbox Announces iPad 2 Defender Case

Otterbox is known for building some of the most robust Smartphone, tablet and mobile device cases around and the guys from the states have been busy creating a brand new, slimmed down version for the Apple iPad 2. Although the case isn’t actually available to buy quite yet a message has informed customers it will be shipping soon and Otterbox TV has also posted a video showcasing its main features.

The new defender case is one fifth lighter than the previous version but despite this will still be one of the more bulkier cases on the market. That’s obviously the idea though, users who purchase an Otterbox defender case receive multiple layers of protection and some nifty built in features.

One of the more interesting features is the detachable screen cover, whilst on it provides a robust barrier between the iPad 2 and external knocks, bumps, scrapes, shocks and dirt – ideal if you carry it around in your bag or use it in a less than ideal environment. When detached, the cover can be clipped on to the rear of the case to form a multi-level stand.

Otterbox will charge $89.99 when the iPad 2 Defender case does go on sale, at this stage interested parties can simply add their email address to the official product page. If you want a closer look watch the instructional video below.
