With Apple rumored to release the newest iPhone in mid-August to September this year, leaked photos of Apple’s next-generation iPhone, called iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, have been seen in a Chinese website.

Chinese website Apple.pro has posted multiple photos of the next iPhone, which it got from social networking site Weibo. Reports say that these images could be the new iPhone’s first leaks.

“We’re apparently looking at a test iPhone 4GS unit that happens to run iOS 4.0 out of the box, which is definitely strange,” said the report.

According to tech blog Nexus404.com, the leaked photos takes the iPhone 5 release date stories forward by sharing with us that the device is on its advanced stage of manufacturing. The report said that the iPhone 5 looks very similar to its predecessor and according to a diagnostic software, the phone has a 5-megapixel camera, similar to the fourth-generation iPhone. It also said that the device’s iTunes image looks different from the iPhone 4’s iTunes profile.

The website said: “In fact some rumors say that the fifth-generation smartphone is being tested under disguise, so we may be looking at the first images of Apple’s next smartphone.”

According to the Weibo user, the iPhone 5 comes with a “test mode GUI, and I tried to restore the phone using iTunes, but both iOS 4.3.4 and 5.0 beta release failed with error 3194. I tried to edit the hosts file, but it still doesn’t work.”

When he talked about the hardware, he said: “There should be no changes for the internal hardware. It’s not an A5 processor, the rear camera is still 5 megapixels.”

If this is an early prototype of the phone, we can still expect to see some changes and upgrades in the future.
