Millions of gamers across the world are switching on their PS3’s to discover that the Playstation Network is down many of whom assumed it’s a minor glitch. Sadly this isn’t the case as Sony confirms that the entire network could be down for a further 48 hours meaning online game play could be out of the question until Saturday at the earliest.
That would mean the network will be down for around five days in total (worse case scenario) which has prompted many users to ask for an explanation. James Gallagher, who heads up the official Sony blog, has admitted that the problems could have been caused by outside interference. He explained via the blog on 21st April; “we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running”.
The outage has come at a rather unfortunate time for SCEE as Portal 2, Mortal Combat 4 and SOCOM 4 all come with online game play and with a rely heavily on the PSN network. However they are still pushing heavily via social networking channels to promote the games with one tweet reading “What are you doing over the long weekend? Let us help.” Which spurned a lot of responses relating to PSN, some of which where more colourful than others.
One replied “@PlayStationEU waiting for the psn I’m hoping your fixing it” whilst another said “@PlayStationEU not playing on PSN by the looks of things!” – If you ask a silly question like that you are only going to receive honest answers.
So it seems PSN gamers will have to wait, how has this affected your gaming and attitude toward PSN?
