The Playstation Network has been down for six days now and PSN users are become increasingly irate at the lack of updates with some making demands of refunds, free credits and even claims for damages for amenities such as broadband costs which have been ‘wasted’. This has prompted Sony to issue a statement via their official blog.
Plea for patience
Sony’s official blog posted “We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.” That came two days ago after they confirmed that an ‘external intrusion’ meant they had to take the PSN Network down to safeguard the network and rebuild Qriocity services.
Many gamers were annoyed when Sony announced the network could be down for 48 hours last week, they were even more annoyed when this timeline came and went twice over. Putting a short timeline on the fix has only angered gamers especially when the deadline passed and none of the further updates included any further time indicators.
At this stage there have been no more official updates from Sony and it seems that the PSN network will be down for the foreseeable future. The blog post did say that they are working around the clock to remedy the problem, which after all the media coverage we’re sure they are.
What’s your take on the PSN outage? What do you think Sony should be doing or do you think they are doing all they can?
