It seems that the popular Resident Evil franchise will get a complete new look and feel when the sixth game in the series is released. Masachika Kawata has been speaking with a Spanish gaming site and has confirmed that the game will receive a ‘compete renovation’ not just a lick of paint that is living off the legacy of earlier games.
He explained “The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise.” So we doubt it will be completely out with the old and in with the new and expect the game to draw from the storylines and strongest aspects of the previous titles in the series.
He continued to tantalise though “I can’t say if we’re going to make it a survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally different.” So there is a chance that it could be out with the strategy and in with a first person shooter. It would be like a story based COD: Zombies game if that’s the case.
Whatever the final outcome it certainly sounds like Capcom wants to create something different with the series to prolong it for the next generation, the interesting question remains – can they wow the masses like they did when it first landed on the PS1. We really hope they can.
