Richard Hammond Obsessed with Smartphone Apps

Richard Hammond seems to be a hot topic at the moment, not only is the Top Gear presenter launching his very own internet TV show but he has also revealed a few interesting snippets about his tech life.

He has admitted that he has a passion for apps which is kind of handy when you consider he was hosting the Carphone Warehouse ‘Appys’ awards ceremony.  His two main reasons for downloading apps are “wasting time and saving time”. This is pretty similar to most Smartphone owners.

Unlike many untidy men it seems the Hamster is a little obsessive compulsive when it comes to organising his apps. He said “I’m obsessive about organising my apps – I’m always having a go at my wife Mindy about it because she has a scatter-brained approach and hers is all over the phone, whereas mine are organised into pages; one page will have useful apps like checking where I’ve parked my car or checking the weather and another page will have all my games.” It’s a shame he didn’t take a bit more care with his wedding ring this past week on Top Gear :-).

He also explained that the GPS function on his Smartphone is essential as he ‘changes car a lot’, we’d have thought the high end cars he drives Sat Navs would be the last thing he’d need.

He continued “I run my life with apps. I am a bit of an Angry Birds fan”. It seems Richard likes to keep up with technology which reflects his long line of scientific based programmes (Total Wipeout not included).
