Retailers Currys and PC World will be releasing the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet a day earlier than their competitors at their flagship store in London’s Tottenham Court Road.

The release date for the latest Android-based tablet PC is on August 4th, but if you are in London, you can go to Tottenham Court Road on the 5th in the afternoon to get your hands on the powerful iPad competitor one day before the rest of the country.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was originally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February, but when Apple unveiled their new iPad 2, Samsung made some drastic changes to the tablet to be able to compete.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs Google’s Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, and sports a 10.1-inch HD touch screen WXGA with 1280 x 800 resolution. It also has a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. It runs on a dual core Nvidia Tegra 1 GHz processor.

“The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the latest example of Samsung’s ongoing innovation in this market and commitment to the Android platform,” Said Samsung UK and Ireland’s Mobile Managing Director Simon Stanford. “Our Galaxy family all feature a premium design, excellent screens and are packed with compelling entertainment features. We plan to deliver exciting new user experiences and lead the tablet market in the months and years to come.”

Have you been waiting for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and do you think it is better than other tablets on the market already?
