It’s being vaunted as the biggest real threat to the iPad’s supremacy in terms of tablet market share, although that’s largely because there’s very little out there that truly competes with the iPad. Everything else is either too budget conscious or too pricey to be considered. While the iPad has its faults, and Yahoo even had to admit to being disappointed by its sales, it is by far the most popular touch screen tablet around. The Samsung Galaxy S hopes to rectify that situation and they’ve put in a very strong showing of coming up with a high quality piece of tech kit to help them towards that end.
The cost of the Galaxy S is an issue with the Carphone Warehouse listing it at £529 and Computer World opting for £499 but only if you buy a £10 rolling monthly mobile broadband package (including 1GB of data). Eagle eyed tech lovers have noted that Tesco has also listed the Galaxy S for the £529 price that Carphone Warehouse has gone with but with Tesco you receive free delivery and you get 1058 clubcard points.
For the same price you can get the 3G version of the Apple iPad but at least the Galaxy S comes with phone capabilities, a front camera and extendable storage. Many of the features are similar to that of a smartphone except, according to Stroppy Jobs, the screen isn’t up to much – in technical terms it’s a 7 inch 1024×600 pixel one in case you were wondering.
The Galaxy S is due out at the beginning of next month so there’s not long to wait now and if you don’t want a sim-free one then you should be able to get your hands on one from O2 or Orange and probably Vodafone as well.
The Galaxy Tab Vibrant and the ipad are both incredibly sophisticated and powerful tablet that are ideal companions for people who want complete control of their digital lives while on the go. I am also hesitating which one i should buy. On your analysis, i think i probably buy the ipad as it is cheaper. but no matter which one i will buy, it is necessary to download a Aneesoft video converter.
