The release date for PlayStation Vita, Sony’s next-generation portable gaming console, has leaked online. Shopto.net, an online video games retailer, has reported that the UK release date of the new mobile gaming platform is on November 4th and Amazon UK has responded with a launch date in December.
Shopto.net also leaked the release of 20 Playstation Vita launch titles, its availability on November 4th and the a reported price tag of £39.99 each. The leaked 20 games to be released include WipEout 2048, LittleBigPlanet and Killzone, while BioShock, Modnation, Monster Hunter Portable, Resistance and Super Stardust Delta are included in Shopto’s pre-order list. Curiously, Amazon has posted the release date as 31st December, which seems an unlikely time to launch a new gaming console.
Sony confirmed the European pricing of the PlayStation Vita at its unveiling at the Electronic and Entertainment Expo (E3) last July. The Wi-Fi model will be sold at 249 euros, while the Wi-Fi plus 3G will be sold at 299 euros.
This is the first news about PS Vita’s UK release date and Sony stated that the November 4th launch is only a speculation. They have not yet confirmed the pricing of titles and when the console is going to come out, Amazon has listed the base model for £229.99 with the Wi-Fi and 3G costing £279.99.
The speculated November 4th release date is very well timed for the Christmas rush and with the addition of launch titles like LittleBigPlanet and WipEout 2048, it will be a massive success for Sony. Surely the Amazon.com date of 31st December is a mistake?
Are we going to see the PlayStation Vita on the shelves this November or are we looking for an late 2011 release? Is it good for Sony to release Vita before the holidays?
