Rumors about the possible iPhone 5 release date have been confusing followers for weeks now. Some reports say that their sources said that the next-generation iPhone will be released in September, some say it’s in mid-August, while some say that it will not be released this year. Recent reports confirm that the Cupertino-based tech company will be releasing the new iPhone 5 this August.
Tech website BGR said that it has spoken to “an incredibly solid source” about the new smartphone’s release. The source said that the new iPhone will be unveiled to the world “by the end of summer, late August-ish.” This news comes after the news of Apple hiring new staff to work on an iPhone project that starts on August 16th.
The report also said that it is possible that Apple will release a cheaper iPhone in the form of the iPhone 3GS. The company is looking to sell a contract-free iPhone 3GS phones that is aimed for prepaid customers. The move comes as the Android platform is steadily overtaking Apple for smartphone supremacy. Apple now looks to go after the prepaid market to widen its reach.
The upcoming iPhone 5 is said to have an Apple dual-core A5 processor and will run the new iOS 5. The smartphone is said to sport bigger screen and has an 8-megapixel camera that can record 1080p resolution videos.
The iPhone 5 release date has been delayed because of the A5 chip’s overheating problems, reports say.
Is there still a market for the iPhone 3GS?
