Temple Run, one of the most popular apps in iOS and one of the most highly anticipated mobile games has been launched recently on the Android platform.

The game has been a huge hit on the iOS platform (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad) and Android users have been asking its developers to make a version for Google-based platform for quite a while now. Now that the app is already out, the app has been receiving heavy downloads from the Android world.

“We are excited to finally share the Android release date with our fans who have been so enthusiastic and supportive of Temple Run,” said Imangi Studios co-founder Keith Shepherd. “By expanding to more mobile devices, we hope to provide the same addictive and fast-paced gameplay to an entirely new group of players.”

For those who haven’t tried the app yet, it is a simple but addictive game that puts gamers in the shoes of an Indiana Jones-like adventurer who is being chased by “Demon Monkeys.” All that’s needed to be done is to avoid obstacles by turning, sliding or jumping, and getting coins to purchase powerups.

Temple Run was launched in the Apple App Store last year and became a huge hit before the year ended. Imangi Studios has managed to rake up more than 45 million iTunes downloads and is aiming to do more on Android. Let’s hope the long wait has kept fans more excited.

What can you say about the game?
