The Beatles Albums Rule iTunes Top 200 Chart

The Beatles will be having a very happy weekend, as will Apple as the bands back catalogue managed to amass 54 songs in the top 100 within the first 24 hours, a record that surely will never be broken.

Apple hyped up the big announcement on Tuesday with many people not seeing the big deal, it was made possible when Apple and EMI finally penned a deal after a ten year long battle. The iTunes album chart now has 15 Beatles albums in the top 50 with the brand new box set sitting at number 13 – not bad when you consider it costs £125.

Many people predicted that the release would see the Beatles fill the top ten, however this was a ambitious prediction with the highest charting single so far being ‘Here comes the Sun’ at number 21, followed by ‘Let it be’ at 28, In my life at 29, come together 33, Blackbird at 37 and Hey Jude at 45. Not bad when you consider most people already own the songs on CD and perhaps in many cases have the odd track or two on their iTunes.

[singlepic id=47 w=320 h=240 float=left]You can buy Beatles themed gift cards and even a voucher to download the entire box set in all Apple stores, there was literally a stand on each of the desks in the Westfield Apple store ready for people to gift for Christmas.

Have you bought any Beatles tunes yet or do you plan to?

nothing about the success or influence this band has achieved is a surprise. to see the current generation as excited as my generation was in the mid 60's gives hope to all mankind…..
