The BMW 328 race car is 75 years old, believe it or not. To help celebrate this anniversary an amazing update on the original has been produced.
The new car is called the BMW 328 Hommage, and it is a stunner. The look is retro but modern carbon fibre material has been used to keep its weight down to 780 kgs, not forgetting that low weight was one of the original design features of the first generation of the 328 as well. Under the bonnet there is a 3.0 litre 6 cylinder engine.
The inside of this open topped two seater car has been lovingly crafted, with brown leather seats and all mod cons. The dashboard includes modern gadgets such as iPhones which have been cleverly disguised as old time instruments like chronographs. Outside, the double kidney grille and the not quite symmetrical windscreen are a couple of other nice nods to the past which stand out.
While the styling is very much classic BMW, the open flaunting on the bodywork of that carbon fibre material we mentioned shows that the designers are not afraid to mix the old with the new.

So how much will a BMW 328 Hommage cost you? The sad truth is that it isn’t going to go on sale at all. It appears to have been designed for us to just look at and wish we could drive.
What would you give to get your hands on a BMW 328 Hommage, a pair of leather driving gloves and a long stretch of open road?
