The Seek Turns Your Phone into a Heat Seeking Camera

How much fun would it be to have a heat seeking camera on your phone? That’s right; a whole lot of fun.

Well, the new Seek camera could be just what you need to give you the night vision on your phone that you have been longing for. Technically, it is called a thermal imaging camera and the Seek is the first truly affordable gadget of this type to be made available in the UK.

This smartphone accessory can be plugged into an Android phone through the microUSB or added onto an iPhone using the lightning connector. Once hooked up it will find hot objects such as people and animals and show them on the screen through its own app.

Small and Lightweight

This is a small, lightweight gadget. There is a rival on the market called Flir One but Seek is more compact. The detection range of temperatures runs from -40 degrees Celsius all the way through to 330 degrees Celsius. The attachment also gives you a 20 to 36 degree field of vision on it.

In terms of the distance, Seek can pick up heat sources that are only 8 inches from your camera, as well as those that are up to 2,000 feet away. The current prize on Amazon in the UK is £260.

The one potential drawback to this heat seeking camera is that it has no battery of its own, meaning that it could end up draining the juice from your phone rather quickly. However, if you love the idea of feeling like a spy on a secret night-time mission then you may that it is a small price to pay.

What uses could you find for the Seek camera?
