On Monday Apple unveiled iOS 5 and announced that the developer version of the brand new operating system was available. Since then we have seen a number of legitimate uses and a couple of jailbreaks too. Today, 9 to 5 Mac have posted a video of the Apple iPad 2 running the developer version of iOS 5, and it looks awesome.

The video begins with the lock screen, which up until now has been pretty functionless apart from being a decent lock screen! It shows new notifications that pop up on the lock screen, to view the items users simply swipe a scroll bar to be taken directly to the app that has sent it. The lock screen also has a camera button, which also takes the user directly to the camera app which will finally make quick fire photography a reality with iOS powered devices.

The ten minute video shows practical uses of iMessage, which allows iOS users to send messages to each other for free. Users can send messages to multiple people over iMessages and can even forward pictures and files, you can also merge conversations bringing more than one user into the conversation.

The video shows off the other new features and picks out a few glaring omissions too, remember at this stage iOS 5 is still in Beta so any feedback given will be worked on.

That’s why videos like this are so valuable, tell us what you think and what you like or dislike about iOS 5 below.
